About Forest Legacy Trust

A nonprofit bridging the gap between those who love the forest and those who will carry that love forward.

Who We Are

Stewarding Land, Bridging Generations

Forest Legacy Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting small privately-owned forests across the Pacific Northwest. We believe the forests of today are the legacy of tomorrow — and that legacy depends on the choices landowners make now.

We work at the intersection of conservation planning, intergenerational transfer, and community building — matching aging forest owners with the next generation of committed stewards.

Based in Portland, Oregon, our team brings together expertise in forestry, conservation law, community organizing, and ecological education to serve landowners and stewards throughout the region.

Our Approach

Re-Generation

Re-Generation is our model for forest conservation succession. It is not just about transferring land — it is about transferring knowledge, values, and stewardship practices from one generation to the next. We believe that the forests that defined our past can define our future, if we act intentionally and now.
